  • Dual-hardness and multi-durometer designs for compression and extrusion balance
  • Tested sealing behavior under pressure cycling, vacuum, and fluid exposure

Material & Compound Options

Elastomer Family Examples Performance Highlights
Hydrocarbon Resistant NBR, HNBR, XNBR Excellent fuel, oil, and amine resistance
Chemical & High-Temp FKM, FFKM, TFEP Superior chemical and thermal stability up to 500 °F
Steam & Polar Fluid Service EPDM, CSM Excellent for hot water, steam, and polar environments
General Purpose NR, SBR, CR High resilience and fatigue resistance
Low-Temperature Flexibility VMQ, FVMQ Maintains elasticity to –75 °F
Gas & Vacuum Applications IIR, BIIR Extremely low gas permeability

Each compound is custom-mixed and tested in-house to verify:

  • Hardness (±5 Shore A tolerance)
  • Compression set
  • Tensile, elongation, and tear strength
  • Cure rheology and Mooney viscosity

Manufacturing Capabilities

Precision Molding

  • Compression, transfer, and injection molding for sizes from micro-O-rings to 24 in+ diameter seals
  • Multi-cavity tooling for production efficiency
  • Flash-free molding with vent optimization for surface finish integrity

Finishing & Post-Cure

  • Controlled post-cure ovens (±3 °F uniformity) for outgassing and stabilization
  • Cryogenic or mechanical deflashing for sharp edges and clean surfaces
  • Polishing, lubrication, or coating as specified

Inspection

  • Optical comparators and vision inspection for dimensional verification
  • 100 % visual inspection for surface defects and voids

Testing & Validation

All O-rings are verified per ASTM standards:

Property Standard Typical Range / Target
Hardness ASTM D2240 30 – 95 Shore A
Tensile Strength ASTM D412 1,500 – 4,000 psi
Elongation ASTM D412 150 – 700 %
Tear Strength ASTM D624 400 – 850 ppi (≈ 80 – 150 kN/m)
Compression Set ASTM D395 < 25 % typical
Heat Aging ASTM D573 ≤ 10 % property loss
Fluid Immersion ASTM D471 < 10 % volume change
Temperature Range –75 °F to +500 °F (material-dependent)

Design Engineering Guidelines

  • Compression Ratio: Typically 10 – 30 % depending on hardness and application pressure.
  • Stretch / Squeeze: Controlled to avoid over-strain (2 – 5 % typical for static, < 2 % for dynamic).
  • Gland Fill: Maintain 70 – 85 % fill for optimum sealing and thermal expansion allowance.
  • Pressure Rating: Up to 20,000 psi with proper backup ring support.
  • Backup Rings: Recommended for high-pressure or extrusion-prone conditions.

Application Examples

  • Oil & Gas: Packers, valve seals, and chemical injection fittings
  • Aerospace: Hydraulic, fuel, and pneumatic O-rings certified to MIL-spec performance
  • Industrial: Pumps, compressors, couplings, and general sealing systems
  • Automotive: Fuel rail, transmission, and brake systems
  • Energy & Power: Cable penetration seals, steam system O-rings, turbine enclosures

Advantages of Eutsler O-Ring Technology

  • Material-to-Part Control: In-house formulation, molding, post-cure, and inspection
  • Field-Proven Compounds: Validated under real service environments
  • Precision Dimensional Accuracy: Consistent cross-sections and concentricity
  • Scalable Manufacturing: Prototype to full-production flexibility
  • ISO 9001:2015 Certified Quality System ensures full traceability and reliability
