EPDM rubber is ethylene propylene diene monomer, a synthetic elastomer that exhibits outstanding heat, ozone and weather resistance. It also has excellent electrical insulating properties and heat resistance. EPDM offers many of the same properties as neoprene at a lower cost. Unlike some other rubbers, EPDM does not have good resistance to fuels, oils and chemicals. As a result, it is not recommended for use in automotive or machine applications. EPDM parts are used for outdoor applications.
